Newsletter—May 2007
Spring is officially here, and I am more than ecstatic to see the cold weather gone for several months.
This newsletter is going to address the overhaul of Asset Manager, a chance for you to earn a t-shirt, and our young community.
Your Opinion Counts!
In the last newsletter we announced the upcoming changes that are being made to the User Interface of bigWebDesk (see blog post). Due to your overwhelming opinion of delaying this until summer, the new release date is scheduled for June 1. Take this as an example of how your opinion DOES make a difference in our planning.
This month we are looking for your thoughts on how we can improve the bigWebApps community. We are working on a better discussion board format to help peer to peer communication. The goal of our community is to increase your ability to improve your organization's support process. Any ideas on how we can better do that are highly encouraged.
Also, the blog is currently the best way for you to get up-to-the-minute information. If you use a feeder program such as Google Reader, then you may be interested in adding us to your subscriptions.
We look forward to your participation in the bigWebApps community.
Asset Upgrades Alpha Release
Early next week we will be publishing the Alpha version of the Asset Upgrades internally. As we are testing the current completed functionality, the development team will continue working on the remainder of the list.
If you are interested in joining a webinar where we will illustrate some of the many changes, please visit our blog post and add a comment. This will help us gauge the interest level in providing a webinar for you.
As a reminder, this is a massive overhaul to our current Asset Manager. Once released, we will all benefit from an open line of communication discussing likes and dislikes of the new setup. We will continue to tweak the new functionality based upon your input.
Next Up: Active Directory
Based on a very high level of interest from you, the next major feature after the Asset Manager will be the integration of Active Directory.
The first iteration of this will be specifically for Active Directory. If you are using an LDAP other than this and you have interest in using this functionality, please contact me by phone (866.996.1200 x 702) or email (jason.moore@bigwebapps.com), so we can discuss your setup.
We feel that this will be a great tool to help you manage your logins list and giving your teachers one less login/password combo to memorize.
Free T-Shirt!
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “Boy! I sure wish I could help those great people at bigWebApps out!”?
Ok, maybe not. But just in case you are thinking it now, we have started a new campaign to help increase our web traffic.

Other Department Need Support?
Are there other departments in your organization who could benefit from using bigWebDesk as their support system? More than half of our clients utilize bigWebDesk for both their Technology and their Facility Maintenance support.
The two main advantages of using bigWebDesk across multiple departments are:
- Lower cost: To add another department you simply add 20% to your current bill. Once added, the slightly higher amount can be split across two departmental budgets.
- Easier for your users: Having one login and one system to use makes life easier for your users... and you! Completely separate routing structures and reporting are easy because the departments are divided at the first step of login. But both departments are accessed from the same login page.
It really is Easier Than You Think!

Assisting you in improving your support process is our #1 goal. Any ideas as to how we can improve our performance on this focus is greatly appreciated. Please feel empowered to provide honest thoughts.
We look forward to seeing you on the discussion boards and blog!
Awaiting your feedback,
Jason Moore
